THE LIBRARY THEATRE TOURING COMPANY presents

2 “TALKING HEADS” by Alan Bennett

WRELTON VILLAGE HALL

7.30PM FRIDAY 12TH MAY 2017

Deborah Kelly stars in 2 x Talking Heads

The Library Theatre Touring Company from Leeds will be performing two dramatic monologues from Alan Bennett’s acclaimed BBC-series ‘Talking Heads.’
A Lady of Letters
……….. Miss Ruddock’s civil liberties are dear to her, and writing letters is how she likes to assert those rights. One of these missives pushes her to the brink, with unexpected but liberating consequences.

Bed Among the Lentils…………Susan, an alcoholic, nervous vicar’s wife who has to travel into Leeds to go to the off-licence because of her debts with the local shop keeper, distracts herself from her ambitious and, as she sees him, vainly insensitive husband and his doting parishioners by conducting an affair with a nearby grocer, Ramesh, discovering something about herself and God in the process

Each play lasts around 35 minutes with a 20 minute interlude. Deborah Kelly will play the lead role in both plays.

The Library Theatre Touring Company was formed in 1996, supported by Leeds Libraries, with the original aim of taking accessible, professional theatre to outlying local areas. They now tour small theatres/village halls nationally from The Wynd Theatre Melrose Scotland to The Quay Sudbury Suffolk to The Ammanford Theatre Wales.

Tickets are available from Village Hall Committee members or by calling 01751 476931 or email us here at the Wrambler and we will contact you!
Tickets cost £7 including a glass of wine.

Village Hall Tidy-up Day – TEST POST

Wrelton Village website

On Saturday October 8th, we’re having a ‘tidy up day’. This will mostly focus around the village hall and play area. We have a really good Hall and it is used by a range of groups as well as private bookings throughout the year. Local children and visitors are often seen in the play area. Of course with constant use and to attract bookings we need to make sure it’s well maintained.
The weather thwarted us last year but fingers crossed we can, with your help, do some overdue cleaning. There will be drinks, soup and sandwiches provided throughout the day so please come along for an hour, all day (from about 10 ish ) or somewhere in between.  Contact Jan Firth on 474469 if you’re up for it. Thank you to villagers who responded to last months Wrambler mention.
The main jobs will be….

Inside: washing down paintwork in the downstairs room; cleaning the doors and window frames; tidying the stage and store rooms.
Outside: washing door and window frames; clearing and sweeping the car park (prior to resurfacing); tidying Elsie’s garden; painting the seats.
If you don’t feel able to help with the cleaning work, why not come along to help with refreshments etc…

PLEASE SUPPORT THE UPKEEP OF YOUR VILLAGE HALL – from Jan Firth

Harvest Supper – TEST POST

Wrelton Village website

This years Harvest Supper will be at the village hall 7pm on Friday October 7th. This is our opportunity to get together as a village to enjoy each other’s company and catch up with folk we haven’t seen for a while.

The tickets are the same price as last year -£7 for adults and £4.50 for under 16s. The ticket includes a two course buffet supper, a glass of wine, beer or a soft drink and entertainment. Also, of course a raffle! This year we welcome straight from the Kirk Theatre, Adam Collier who will be impressing ( and for some of us baffling) us with his Yorkshire dialect and amusing tales.

So, don’t delay contact Mo or Pete Renshaw on 474577 or any committee member for tickets… from Jan Firth
