2018 National Rural Crime Survey

Wrelton Village website

We received a message from the Parish Council asking us to place details of the 2018 National Rural Crime Survey on the website.
Please see the letter and links from Julia Mulligan, Police and Crime Commissioner for North Yorkshire.

“Dear Parish Clerk

Following the launch of the 2018 National Rural Crime Survey, I am appealing for as many people as possible in North Yorkshire to complete the survey to ensure that North Yorkshire’s voice is heard.

The survey is available on-line, here: http://www.nationalruralcrimenetwork.net/survey

In short, I want to know the true picture of crime and anti-social behaviour in rural communities across North Yorkshire – from Skipton to Sleights, Stokesley to Selby, we want to hear people’s voices. This survey is an excellent way to get that understanding, and in turn hold the police to account for the services we receive.

North Yorkshire’s geography means rural crime has a particularly strong impact on people, whether that be the sheer distance they live from their neighbour, or the moorlands being a perfect habitat for birds of prey which brings with it opportunities for wildlife crime. The number of farms and rural businesses also increases the opportunities for cross-border crime, whether that be a livery, a farm or financial services.

We know from the 2015 survey that these issues are of considerable interest to your community, and I would be very grateful if you could pass on this information.

Using the links below, and the press release and poster, please promote the survey on your website, Facebook page, public notice boards, at community meetings and events. If you use social media, look out for #RuralCrimeSurvey and please re-Tweet and share.

  • Read the press release – Make your voice heard – The 2018 National #RuralCrimeSurvey
  • Download, print out and pin up a poster
  • Link to take the survey: http://www.nationalruralcrimenetwork.net/survey

If you require hard copies of the poster or additional promotional materials, please contact my office. The survey closes on 10 June 2018.

Thank you very much for your help.

Kind regards

Julia Mulligan
Police and Crime Commissioner for North Yorkshire”
